Real Stories: Real Stories motivates middle and high school students to read, think, explore ideas, and form values outside the classroom! Even teens who “hate to read” will be drawn in by Real Stories, a new afterschool and summer curriculum that uses stories written by teens and young adult novels to engage teens in a wealth of activities – including role plays, experiential games, debates, and more – that make it fun for teens to read the stories and explore the themes.

Behavior Management through Rhythm and Ritual: Eliminate behavior problems before they begin! The key to a safe, enriching learning environment is structures and routines. Young people do best when they have a sense of containment about their spaces – where things go, what is expected of them, rules, consequences, processes and procedures. Basically, they need consistency. This workshop offers hands-on strategies for teachers to put in place that empower youth to sustain a highly structured environment for themselves to feel safe and to be creative within.

Dramatic Play for the Young Child: Young children are the masters of dramatic play – it’s how they learn and explore the magic and mystery of their worlds. Utilizing the power of play throughout an average school day can make learning fun, engaging, and exciting for students and teachers. This training supports teachers to infuse drama into their daily curriculum. We explore concepts of circle time, clean up, free play, project time, transitions and conflict management scenarios. The techniques taught in this course are meant to support relaxation, problem solving, relationship building and a positive disposition around learning in classrooms.
