Fading Facilitation

Youth workers serving older youth need to be able to transition smoothly from being a friend, a teacher, a role model and a mentor. This workshop explores the interpersonal skills a youth worker needs to serve these 4 roles, and the organizational infrastructure required to make strong youth-adult partnerships possible. Explore the theory of fading facilitation, and apply 4 field-tested strategies that support staff in authentically transferring power from adults to youth over time. Learn and apply a coaching conversation model to empower youth to be in conscious choice when solving their own problems and value-based decision making.
