Circles & Squares: Diversity, Difference & Uniqueness

Theater allows us to literally walk in someone else’s shoes.  Taking on other characters deepens our understanding, strengthens our empathy, and allows us to appreciate the uniqueness of one another.  This training for professionals in the education and youth development fields is based on Glitter & Razz Productions’ original show and workshop Circles & Squares for young people based on our methodology of exploring diversity & difference.  Participants will:

• Practice the art of noticing without judgment
• Engage in dialogue about the diverse stories that we all carry with us into a group
• Experience theater-inspired exercises that celebrate individual uniqueness while sustaining community
• Gain tools for addressing “that’s weird!” when it comes up in group settings

Working with elementary school students around issues of diversity is complex but it does not have to be intimidating.  Circles & Squares will provide you with tools to turn your classes into safe and dynamic spaces where students of all shapes, sizes, colors, and textures can thrive.
